Description
This is for an original signed index card of former Heavyweight Champion Jess Willard. Jess would be the participant in two of the most famous fights in boxing history. He would defeat Champion Jack Johnson in Cuba in a controversial 26 round fight in 1915 and would then lose the championship to Jack Dempsey at the age of 37 in 1919. The fight would end with Willard not being able to come out for the fourth round, including being knocked down 7 times in the first round alone. Willard would go on to say that Dempsey cheated by having a bolt in his glove and that he suffered a broken jaw, broken cheekbone and broken ribs along with losing several teeth. Others who saw Willard soon after the fight said he didn’t even have a black eye. Two of boxings most controversial fights having one thing in common, Jess Willard. Tough to tell if the index card has been signed lightly in pencil or fountain pen, but it looks great in the PSA DNA holder. A must have for any boxing champion autograph collection.Check out the scans and email with any questions.
